This archive program is a de facto standard for storing files in a compact format. Originally developed for use under MS-DOS, it is now available for Windows including WindowsNT on Alpha or PowerPC, for OS/2, and for UNIX. Please visit the PKWare site for links to versions not listed here.

This Windows-based program is probably the most popular alternative to PKZip for managing ZIP files.

AppleWin 1.3

There were some early Traveller games and utilities written for the Apple II series of computers, which is no longer in production. If you can obtain the programs (You can - see our page for Traveller Programs for Apple II), you can run them on an IBM-type computer running Windows 3.1 or 3.11 (you will need to get Win32s, available free from Microsoft's web site), Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, or Win-OS/2 (again, with Win32s) using this Apple IIe emulator.

Aladdin Expander 5.0

Just in case you want to get a file that was compressed using one of the Macintosh standards (Stuffit [.sit], BinHex [.hqx], or MacBinary [.bin]). It can also uncompress most of the formats that WinZip handles.
